Hanna Novak

Hanna Novak is a New York City-based playwright, director, and theater producer. She is a 2018 graduate from the MFA Playwriting program at Hunter College, where she studied with Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Annie Baker. “From a class I took on adapting ancient Greek tragedy to reading and seeing work by vital contemporary playwrights, the program’s curriculum is well rounded and rigorous,” Novak said. “I still find myself regularly returning to the plays, texts, and ideas I encountered during my MFA at Hunter.”

Novak’s plays have been presented as part of the New Ohio's Ice Factory Festival and at the Performing Garage and the Wild Project in New York City. She is a New Georges affiliated artist and alumna of the Clubbed Thumb Early Career Writers' Group. Her play Left Out was a Semi-Finalist for the 2022 O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. Novak currently works as a producer at the Elevator Repair Service, an incubator for original collaborative theatrical productions.
