Timothy Edwards

Dancer, choreographer, and educator Timothy Edwards graduated with an BA in Dance from Hunter College in 2019. Edwards grew up in Hawaii and moved to California after high school to serve in the Air Force. When he was 21, with no formal training, Edwards moved to New York in order to pursue a career in dance. Despite some early success, including a scholarship offer from the prestigious Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, financial difficulties got in the way. At the age of 25, Edwards enrolled at Hunter as a dance major.

"Hunter is a place where, if fully invested, you can achieve whatever you set for a goal," Edwards says. "Hunter gave me the tools to believe in myself and the confidence to challenge myself to go for bigger things than I'd ever thought I could. I truly feel that without Hunter I would still, to this day, be wishing I could do what it is I always wanted to do, become a professional dancer."

Edwards is a member of the Camille A. Brown & Dancers, and has danced with the David Dorfman Dance Company. His current work in theater, television, and opera includes performing in Harlem on Amazon Prime, Jesus Christ Superstar Live on NBC, as well as Fire Shut Up in My Bones at the Metropolitan Opera House, and The Wiz at the MUNY.
